October 13, U.S. Navy’s 248th Birthday:

On October 13, 1775, the Continental Congress voted to fit out two sailing vessels, armed with ten carriage guns, and swivel guns manned by crews of eighty. Their mission was to intercept transports carrying munitions and stores to the British Army in America.

November 3-5 American Legion Department of Arizona Fall Conference :

American Legion Department of Arizona Fall Conference at the El Conquistador Resort in Oro Valley. Members of the Legion, Auxiliary, SAL and Riders, from around the state, assemble for training sessions, committee reports, and comradery. Sept 21, Post meeting: 

Color Guard/Honor Guard Captain, Ray Baldwin, recognized all Color Guard/Honor Guard team members present for their commitment and dedication to the Post. Ray and Post commander Wayne Larroque thanked the members for representing the Post and its members and for having a positive and recognized presence within the community. They perform at the memorial and funeral services of veterans, school events, dedication ceremonies, special occasions at community locations, and at patriotic events. They are the most active in southern Arizona. For Veterans enrolled in VA Health Care:

The Tucson VA Medical Center (SAVAHCS) is now offering flu shots. The Center has a flu shot station set up daily inside the main entrance to Building 80.

Post and Auxiliary Unit 132 receive recognition:

The leadership of the Tucson Veterans Serving Veterans (TVSV) organization has again recognized Post and Auxiliary Unit 132 for their unwavering and generous support of the TVSV “Veterans in Need” program. “Post and Auxiliary Unit 132 can always be counted on to come to the aid of a veteran in need”.

Post’s hospice Veterans visitation and recognition program:

Post members, by invitation, visit veterans who are in the care of hospice centers. If you are interested in volunteering for this meaningful Post program, please contact Post Chaplain Jim Seppala at 520-405-7158 or email [email protected].

Honoring and Remembering:

The Post 132 Honor Guard recently performed at Memorial Services for the following veterans: Robert Chavez, U.S. Army Vietnam era; Henry Granillo U.S. Army Vietnam era; Raul Castro USMC Vietnam era; and Chauncey Webb U.S. Navy Vietnam era. The participation of the Post’s Honor Guard is an important and memorable part of the service and is greatly appreciated by the deceased’s family and friends.
