Post and Auxiliary membership meetings:
Thursday, April 20, 6:30 pm at Vistoso Memorial Chapel, 2285 E. Rancho Vistoso Blvd, Oro Valley. A social with complimentary refreshments will follow each meeting of the Post and Auxiliary. The Auxiliary Unit members meet in a separate room, same time, same location.

Upcoming Dates, activities and events to remember:
March 29, National Vietnam War Veterans Day:
This day marks the official withdrawal of U.S. troops from Vietnam in 1973. Please join together to pay tribute to the valiant service of Vietnam War Veterans. A day to thank and honor Vietnam-era veterans and their families for their service and sacrifice, with special recognition for former POWs and families of the 1,582 still listed as Missing In Action.

April 22, Missing in America Project (MIAP) mission:
The mission of MIAP is to locate, identify and inter the unclaimed remains of American veterans. At 8am, a brief memorial service followed by the transfer of the urns to a hearse at the Adair Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave in Oro Valley. A procession will escort the hearse to the AZ State Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 15950 N. Luckett Rd in Marana. The service at the cemetery, consisting of full military honors, begins at 10:00 am. Set aside some time to attend the service and to honor and remember these heroes. On this day 22 will be interred. MIAP Post 132 POC: Rick Gonzales 520-400-2613 or [email protected].

April 23 (Sunday). The annual Post 132 sponsored picnic:
Post, Auxiliary, SAL and Riders members are invited. The picnic will be held at the Catalina State Park, Oro Valley, at the Gila Pavilion in the Group Picnic Area from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm. Post 132 will provide complimentary BBQ fare and sides, beer, wine, soda and dessert. The picnic is our way of thanking members of our Legion Family for their loyal membership and continued support of the Post’s award-winning programs. It also is an opportunity for the members to show their support of the officers and of those who give of their time to the many Post programs. Past Activities and Information:
March 11, “Stuff the Truck” with pet supplies:
for the pets of the homeless and other needy veterans’ was a success. Volunteers from the Post and Auxiliary Unit supported the event. Thanks to those who donated.


March 14, donated clothing collection:
Thanks to the caring residents of Splendido in Oro Valley, the patriotic members of the Greater Oro Valley Chamber, the always generous residents of Vistoso Village coordinated by Kay Williams and Post 132 family members, several truckloads of donated clothing and hygiene items were collected for the homeless and the At Risk veterans and their families attending the March 15-16 Tucson Stand Down event. March 15, Tucson Stand Down for homeless and other needy Veterans and their families:
In addition to providing financial support, twenty-three members of the Post and Auxiliary Unit were volunteers on hand to help ensure that the Stand Down event was a resounding success. The Post color guard posted and retrieved the colors during the opening ceremony. The mission of Stand Down is to provide homeless and other needy Veterans and their families with services such as employment opportunities, housing, legal services, meals, haircuts, clothing and care for their pets. The Oro Valley Post 132 and Auxiliary Unit were recognized for their extraordinary volunteer support of the event and for coordinating the collection of a huge supply of hygiene items and clothing from caring and generous individuals, businesses and organizations. The Tucson Stand Down is sponsored by Tucson Veterans Serving Veterans (TVSV). Barber College of Tucson had four haircutting positions at the event.
