Thursday, April 18, 6:30 pm at Vistoso Memorial Chapel, 2285 E. Rancho Vistoso Blvd., Oro Valley. No pre-meeting meal this month. Meetings are on the 3rd Thursday of the month at 6:30 pm. June 20-23, the 105th American Legion Department of Arizona Convention:

Post 132 is again the host Post of this major event for members of the Legion, Auxiliary, SAL and Riders. If you wish to attend any portion of the convention, you must be registered. Registration fee is at no cost if you register in advance. Post members please contact Stu Lind at email [email protected]. Auxiliary Unit members please contact Onita Davis at email [email protected] and SAL members please contact Ed Davis at email [email protected]. Riders are members of one of the aforementioned groups. More than 900 attendees, from across the state, are expected. The venue for the event is Oro Valley El Conquistador Resort on Oracle Rd..

August 24, the 15th Annual Post 132 Golf Tournament:

Fundraising is a necessary and vitally important activity which allows us to fund our award-winning programs. To help us carry on our mission of care and assistance, we are sponsoring our 15th annual golf tournament, August 24, at the SaddleBrooke Mountain View Golf Club. Help spread the word. The proceeds are used to help fund our programs which benefit local veterans and service members in need, the youth of our community and which promote traditional American values. See attached flyer. Feb 4, Eagle Scout Court of Honor:

Scouts Garrison Abrams, Garner Abrams, Noah Brunet, Ian Lochridge, and Patrick Harrigan of Troop 211 in Oro Valley received their Eagle Scout awards during their Court of Honor ceremony. Post members, Larry McNamee, Bob Franke, Jim Blankenship and Thomas Roblee attended the award ceremony and presented each new Eagle Scout with a folded American Flag that had been flown over the US Capital in their honor. The American Legion has been an active supporter of Scouting since 1919 and the Post’s Flags for Eagles program is one of the Post’s signature Americanism programs.

Honoring and Remembering:

The Post 132 Honor Guard performed at Memorial Services for the following veterans: Army Veteran Michael Burk, Navy Veteran and former Post 132 member, Robert Stone, Army Veteran Ann (Carol) Stensby, USMC Veteran Michael Zitnik, Coast Guard Veteran William Jansen and Army Veteran Vernor Loree. The participation of the Post’s HG is an important and memorable part of the service and is greatly appreciated by the deceased’s family and friends. Members of the color guard also presented colors during the National Vietnam War Veterans Day service held at the Kino Veterans Memorial Park.

Oro Valley Auxiliary Unit 132 finishes 4th in the state:

The Auxiliary Unit sponsored 1,571 Remembrance Wreaths for this year’s National Wreaths Across America Day held December 16, 2023. The majority of the wreaths were placed at the State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Marana. The Unit finished 4th out of 133 Wreaths Across America sponsoring organizations from Arizona. This is a remarkable accomplishment for a small group.
