Post and Auxiliary membership meetings: Thursday, October 20, 6:30 pm at Vistoso Memorial Chapel, 2285 E. Rancho Vistoso Blvd, Oro Valley. A social with complimentary refreshments follow each meeting of the Post and Auxiliary. Meetings are third Thursday of the month, 6:30 pm. October 28: National First Responders Day. Recognizes the heroic men and women who make it their business to take immediate action in emergency situations and disasters. Serving our communities.
November 4-6, American Legion Department of Arizona Fall Conference: Conference at El Conquistador Resort in Oro Valley. Members of the Legion, Auxiliary, SAL and Riders, from around the state, assemble for training sessions, committee reports and comradery. November 7: Election Day. Be sure to vote.
November 10: American Legion Auxiliary Birthday. Established November 10, 1919, the ALA, a patriotic service organization, has been providing care and support to service members and veterans, promoting the welfare of our nation’s youth and traditional American values and supporting other American Legion programs.
November 10 – 247th U.S. Marine Corps Birthday: The United States Marine Corp started as the Continental Marines on November 10, 1775. On that date, the Second Continental Congress decided that two Battalions of Marines were needed to serve as landing forces with the Continental Navy during the American Revolutionary War.
November 11 – Veterans Day/WWI Armistice 1918:World War I fighting ceased between the Allied nations and Germany on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. For that reason, November 11, 1918, is generally regarded as the end of the war. That day is now designated Veterans Day.
