Post and Auxiliary membership meetings: Thursday, March 17 at the Vistoso Memorial Chapel, 2285 E. Rancho Vistoso Blvd., Oro Valley. A social with complimentary refreshments follow each meeting of the Post and Auxiliary. Meetings are 3rd Thursday of the month, 6:30pm. *Meeting Night March 17*: Members of the Auxiliary Unit will be collecting non-perishable food items for the Tucson VA Food Pantry for homeless and at-risk veterans. Collection boxes will be outside each meeting room.

March 19. The American Legion’s 103rd Birthday: On this date in 1919, members of the American Expeditionary Force convened the first caucus of the new American Legion in Paris, France. Weary from war, they were concerned about their lives after discharge, the welfare of their comrades and the general condition of the nation. The founding members, all combat veterans, were determined to include everyone who served in uniform during the war, not just combat veterans. 

Vietnam Veteran Patch.

March 29. Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day: Our nation will observe Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day on March 29. This day marks the historic withdrawal of U.S. troops from Vietnam on March 30, 1973. Please join together to pay tribute to the valiant service of Vietnam War Veterans. A special thank you to our very own Vietnam Veterans, Welcome Home brothers and sisters!

A brief ceremony will be held March 29, at 12 noon, at the Tucson VA in the Rose Garden Courtyard. VA located at 3601 S. 6th Ave. Use only the entrances to buildings 80, 50 or 57.

April 24. The annual Post 132 sponsored picnic: Post, Auxiliary, SAL, and Riders members are invited. The picnic will be held at the Catalina State Park, Oro Valley, at the Gila Pavilion from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm. The Gila picnic area is located in the Group Picnic Area. Post 132 will provide complimentary BBQ fare and sides, beer, wine, soda, and dessert. The picnic is our way of thanking members of the Post, Auxiliary, SAL, and Riders for their loyal membership and continued support of the Post’s award-winning programs. It also is an opportunity for the membership to show their support of the officers and of those who give of their time to the many Post programs. Auxiliary Unit Members at Baby Shower.

Feb 23, Baby Shower for expectant Servicemembers: A Baby Shower was held by the Knitwits of Saddlebrooke, a knitting group of ladies in the Saddlebrooke Community. The baby items were donated to the Auxiliary Unit 132 Baby Bag program. Jan Kendall, a member of The Knitwits and of our Auxiliary Unit, was instrumental in planning the event. Rosie Gonzales is the coordinator of the Auxiliary Unit’s Baby Bag program. The Unit 132 Baby Bag program provides gift bags of essential baby items welcoming newborns to military families of local Arizona National Guard.

Post 32 Roadway Cleanup Crew.

February 26, Roadway cleanup: Keeping Oro Valley the Clean Scene! On this day ten members of the Post removed debris from the Post’s assigned one-mile stretch along Tangerine Rd. The clean-up turns into a social gathering and fun is had by all. Thanks to Tom Roblee for coordinating this quarterly activity and to the volunteers who make it happen.
