November 10,  American Legion Auxiliary Birthday:

The American Legion Auxiliary was established November 10, 1919, as a patriotic service organization. Since then, it has been providing care and support to service members and veterans, and supporting other American Legion programs.

November 10 – 247th U.S. Marine Corps Birthday:

The US Marine Corps started as the Continental Marines on Nov 10, 1775. On that date, the Second Continental Congress decided that two Battalions of Marines were needed to serve as landing forces with the Continental Navy during the American Revolutionary War.

November 10, Rockin’ 4 Heroes concert:

Open to the public at no charge. A celebration to honor our Heroes: First Responders, Active Military, Veterans, and Gold Star families. Location: James D Kriegh Park, 23 W. Calle Concordia, Oro Valley. Gates open at 12:30 pm, music starts at 1:00 pm. Live classic rock and country music, food trucks, and fun, bring lawn chairs. The Post’s Riders Chapter’s members have taken on a key role pulling together volunteers to perform a variety of functions in support of the concert. Post 132 will have a recruiting table, so stop by, and say hello.

Next Honor Flight, November 10-12:

Honor Flight’s mission is to honor the service and sacrifice of veterans who answered the call of duty by flying them to Washington D.C. for a tour of the memorials…..at no cost to the veterans. Make your signs, wear your patriotic colors, and come join us to cheer on the Vets. They depart November 10 from the upper level in the Gallery of the Tucson airport at 4:30 am. The homecoming, Nov 12, will be on the upper level at 6:10 pm. Be part of a huge “Welcome Home”. Bring the children and grandkids for an experience they will never forget. If you are interested in participating on a future Honor Flight, either as a Veteran or as a Guardian, submit your application now.

November 11, Tucson’s 105th Veterans Day parade:

Parade begins at intersection of W. Alameda St. and S. Granada Ave. The parade route is from Granada to Cushing St., to Church St., to Congress St. then back to Granada. Arrive early to secure parking. Go to www.tucsonVDPF.org for all parade information.

November 11, Veterans Day/WWI Armistice 1918:

World War I fighting ceased between the Allied nations and Germany on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. That day is now designated Veterans Day. Did you know? Veterans Day does NOT have an apostrophe, and remember, Veterans Day honors all of those who have served the country in war or peace, deceased or living, while Memorial Day is a time to remember those who gave their lives for our country, particularly in battle or from wounds they suffered in battle.
