July 15, American Legion Baseball:

The local American Legion Area A baseball league, composed of twelve teams, begins tournament play July 15. Post 132 sponsored two teams this year. The Flowing Wells Caballeros, and the Ironwood Ridge Hawks. The Hawks finished the season in 4th place and the Cabs in 8th place. The Hawks play in game 1 of the State tournament, July 15, 6:30pm at the Kino Sports Complex, field 4, 2500 E. Ajo Way, Tucson. Attend the game to show your support.

July 28, National Buffalo Soldiers Day:

Celebrating the contributions of some of the earliest African-American troops in the United States military. In 1866, Congress passed legislation known as the Army Organization Act, which formalized the creation of six all-Black U.S. Cavalry and infantry units. The first troops to be called Buffalo Soldiers were assigned to the 10th Cavalry Regiment, assembled in 1866 at Fort Leavenworth in Kansas. July 29, 249th Anniversary of the Army Chaplain Corp:

The U.S. Army Chaplain Corps dates back to 29 July 1775, when the Continental Congress authorized one chaplain for each regiment of the Continental Army, with pay equaling that of a captain. Since the War for Independence, chaplains have served in every American war. Over that period, the U.S. Army Chaplain Corps has evolved, adding Roman Catholic, Jewish and African American chaplains.

Sept 14, a Gaslight Music Hall performance hosted by Post 132:

Featuring the All American Girls, accompanied by an all-star band playing all of your country music favorites from the 90’s and early 2000’s. Tickets are selling quickly. The Post will receive $5.00 for each ticket sold. Doors open at 5:00 pm and the performance begins at 6:00 pm. Food and drinks are available at the venue, 13005 N. Oracle Rd., Oro Valley, AZ 85739.

May 1, Riders Chapter 132 election of officers:

During the May 1 general membership meeting of the Chapter, the following members were elected to serve in leadership positions during the 2024-2025 leadership year. The officers are: Bob (Murph) Britton – Director, Austin Mazor – Asst. Director, Cindy Britton – Secretary, Jane Baldwin – Treasurer, Jeff Fawks – Sgt at Arms, Ken Bruntmyer – Ride Captain (group photo not available).

May 18, SAL Squadron 132 installation ceremony:

During the May 18 general membership meeting of the Sons of the American Legion, Squadron 132, the formal installation ceremony was held of the Squadron officers elected to serve for the 2024-2025 leadership year. The officers are: Ed Davis – Commander, Bob Franke – First Vice CDR, Bob Broomfield – Second Vice CDR, Bill Madara – Adjutant, Steve Asp – Finance Officer, Don Dickinson – Historian, Dakota Couture – Sergeant at Arms, Danny Lemon – Chaplain, and Tony Plattner – Judge Advocate.

June 13, Post 132 installation ceremony:

During the June 13 general membership meeting, the formal installation was held of the Post officers elected to serve for the 2024-2025 leadership year. The officers are: Tom Roblee – commander, Michael Bartell – 1st vice commander, Garry Lawrence – 2 vice commander, Stu Lind – adjutant, Gene Wickey – Judge Advocate, Jeri Harwood – Service Officer, Danny Lemon – Finance Officer, Dan McGregor – Historian, Ray Baldwin – Sergeant at Arms, Jim Martens – Chaplain, Bob Herd – Executive Committee Member, Bob Franke – Executive Committee Member, John Madaloni – Executive Committee Member, Rick Gonzales – Executive Committee Member and Steve Didio- Past commander. Green backpack with back to school supplies.

Post and Auxiliary Unit support our military kids:

Post and Auxiliary Unit 132 combined to donate $1,000, the majority of which was donated by the Unit, to the Arizona Heroes to Hometowns’ backpack for military kids program. The backpacks, filled with back-to-school supplies, were distributed to the children of our “adopted” Guard and Reserve soldiers stationed at the Marana facilities.
